Rosie Etta Hardin

Rosie Etta Hardin, 58, of Benton Harbor, Michigan passed away unexpectedly, yet peaceful at Spectrum Lakeland Health with her family by her bedside. She was born July 26, 1963, to the Union of James Franklin and Lillie Alberta Hardin at Mercy Hospital in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Rosie graduated from Benton Harbor High School with the class of 1981. In her youth, Rosie enjoyed shooting hoops on the basketball court. Rosie worked for JCPenney, Heath Company, and Atlantic Automotive.

Rosie was beautiful, bold, she freely gave her time to all she loved, she was full of laughter but most of all she was the epitome of strength. She bravely battled lung cancer for 18 years, but she never let her diagnosis stop her from living a fulfilling life. Rosie enjoyed fishing, rummaging and assembling puzzles with her sisters. Her humor in conjunction with her siblings was unmatched. Rosie devoted most of her time to her children and her grandchildren she affectionately referred to as “Granny’s Sugar Love Chickens”. She’s remembered by her loved ones mostly for her love for them and her love for music.

The loved ones she left to honor her memories are her children; Terry Lamar Hegar, of Benton Harbor, MI, Joseph Hegar, of Grand Rapids, MI, Cassie Caldwell and Breanna Gilcrease, both of Houston, Texas. Her Siblings; Willie Mae (Philemon) Reed, James Raymond Hardin, Minnie (John) Richmond, all of Benton Harbor, Sharon Calahan, of New Albany, Indiana. Ronnie Hardin, of Evansville, Indiana, and Connie Hardin, of Minnesota. Her Godsister; Vonda Kay Humbert, of Stone Mountain, Georgia and her 16 grandchildren; De’Juan Atterberry, Dominic and Dylann Hegar, Janaria Hegar, Lilliana Johnson, Anaija Sanders, Joseph Hegar, Jr., Ilana Pritchard, Jourdyn Hegar, Robert Pritchard III, Aubree Doyle, Jaxon & Jace Pritchard, Arree & Nipsey Doyle, Teagan Hegar; a host of nieces and nephews whom were all near and dear to Rosie’s heart.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Jessie Moore; her brothers; James Franklin Hardin II, Charles Michael Hardin, Elvis Hardin and Larry D. Hardin and her godmother; Tempie Delmore.

Rosie’s life will be privately celebrated amongst family and friends at her favorite place, her home. Please contact a family member for a time and location.
