Driver Hurt In Rollover Crash Near New Buffalo

A Michigan City, Indiana man is seriously injured following a Monday crash in New Buffalo Township. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says it happened shortly before 5 p.m. on West US-12 near Grand Avenue. Sheriff’s deputies arrived to find a single vehicle rollover crash with the driver trapped inside. The vehicle had gone off the road, striking a fire hydrant, a home, a large rock, several trees, and a parked vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its roof. The vehicle’s passengers, a 23-year-old man from New Buffalo and a 25-year-old man from New Buffalo, were able get out. The driver, a 29-year-old Michigan City man, was freed by the New Buffalo Township Fire Department. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
