This weekend brings the Summer in the City festival in Dowagiac. It started Friday. The chamber of commerce says the events get underway on Saturday at 9 a.m. and will continue through 2:30. The community celebration is intended to be a family-friendly event, featuring The Taste of Dowagiac, a community-wide worship service, vocal, instrumental, and dance performances, and action sports. There are also children’s interactive entertainment and games. Families can browse summer redesign sales of specialty shops, and booths will be set up with crafts. Summer in the City often features big discounts at local shops and sidewalk sales. Front Street will closed for the day.
