Hagar Township has reopened its Paw Paw River kayak launch across from the KOA campground on Coloma Road. The launch is part of Hagar Township’s Riverside Park, opened in 2019. The park features a pavilion, parking, picnic tables, and grills, along with the kayak launch on a floating dock. With the launch back open for the year, Hagar Township officials say anyone can access the Paw Paw River Water Trail, which runs for a total of 68 miles. Paw Paw River communities have come together for river cleanup of fallen trees for kayak and canoe users. Once the river levels come down to about six feet, crews will be out working on the cleanup. Until then, only certain sections of the river are open. Once cleanup is finished, navigation all the way to the Twin Cities inner harbor will be possible.
