Robert J Ott Jr. (RJ), of Bridgman, Michigan, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love at home on December 14, 2020.
RJ, born March 7, 1954, had a true zest for living life to the fullest and will be remembered for his sense of humor, contagious smile, and his love of playing the harmonica. He loved to golf, hunt, and play horseshoes, especially with his Boat Brothers, and he was a proud veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1974 to 1978. Although RJ lived in Bridgman for most of his adult life, he tended to chase the sunshine to Arizona, where much of his family resides. He was a longtime construction worker and always took pride in his work, just like his dad.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea, who he always called his “sunshine” and was the apple of his eye, and her fiance, Brandon Rood; his dad, Robert J Ott Sr.; his siblings, Candy (Dan) Denman, Shelly (Tom) Ott, and Jason Ott; his ex-wife, Pat Ott; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, who he loved very much. He was also endearingly known as “Uncle RJ” to many of his friends’ children. RJ was preceded in death by his mother, Polly Ott; his brother-in-law, Keith Loughmiller; and his father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Kitty Loughmiller.
At this time, no service will be held; however, a memorial gathering will be held at a later date, when we can gather safely and celebrate RJ’s life. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in RJ’s name to Caring Circle, who took such great care of him. When you think of RJ, pour a drink for him, play a card of keno, and remember him with a smile.
