A 64-year-old Niles man is recovering at South Bend Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in a Sunday afternoon crash in Niles. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department says Octavio Quispe was found pinned and unresponsive under his passenger door on East Main Street across the street from the Birchcrest Mobile Home Park. Deputies and a Michigan State Police trooper lifted the truck enough to pull him out. Police say he pulled into the path of a Chevrolet Suburban driven by Mathew Borsa of Edwardsburg as Quispe crossed East Main Street in his Ford Ranger. Borsa was treated and released from Lakeland Medical Center in Niles. Police say alcohol and drugs are not factors in the crash.
