Lakes Michigan-Huron are expected to set another new record high this month and then begin to drop in September. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, says all of the Great Lakes except Superior have likely reached their peak water levels for the year and are now expected to decline. Lake Superior’s decline is predicted later this fall as it is expected to peak next month. While the lakes will be declining, John Allis of the Great Lakes Hydraulics and Hydrology Office in the Detroit District says the levels will “still remain extremely high.”
