A local effort to show support for police agencies has led to departments throughout southwest Michigan receiving special food bags for their officers. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department tells us Jackie Haney decided to do something to show the community’s support for police as a national movement has left a less than positive climate for police. Haney and others who joined her Facebook campaign were able to deliver more than 400 goodie bags to five police departments in the Michiana area on Saturday. The bags were filled with drinks, chips, cookies, granola bars, and other items, and each sworn officer of the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department received one. Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey says the effort “means a lot to the men and women that faithfully serve our communities during these difficult times.”
