
Carol Joan Leist, 78, of South Haven, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at Ely Manor in Allegan, Michigan. She was born July 20, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to Paul and Helen (Winzenz) Fouts. Carol married Robert Leist on Sept. 23, 1975 and they shared 17 years of marriage before his passing. She worked at Bohn Aluminum in South Haven as the president’s secretary and floor supervisor for 40 years before her retirement. Family oriented, Carol enjoyed cookouts with family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was fond of flower gardening and sailing on the Moondrift.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Leist who died in 1992, and her siblings – Bill Fouts and Shirley Spencer.
Carol is survived by her children – Scott (Lisa) Sollman of South Haven and Todd (Barbara Ansinn) Sollman of Grand Junction; brother – Norm (Ann Hartmann) Fouts of Middlebury, Indiana; and grandchildren – Aaron, Steven, Megan, Blaise, Alan, and Sarah. Great grandchildren – Allison, Makenna and Brendon. Special friend, Danelle Sollman of Kalamazoo. Bob’s children and grandchildren also survives.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15 from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 6:30 at the funeral home with her nephew, Ken Fouts officiating.
