Donald David Arnott

Donald David Arnott, 91, of South Haven, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.

He was born April 22, 1928 to Charles and Pearl (Robarts) Arnott in Epes, Alabama. Donald graduated from Bad Ax High School with the Class of 1946. He later went on to graduate from Michigan State University in 1956. Donald honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He married Marilyn Weigold April 23, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Lakeville, Michigan. Donald worked as the Superintendent of Parks for Kalamazoo and Kent Counties and later as Director of Public Works Departments for the City of South Haven from 1981 until 1992. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. in South Haven where he served as an elder and ran the sound systems. Donald was an instrumental founder to the creation of the We Care Food Pantry at the First Congregational Church. Donald was also a Den Leader and Cub Master to Boy Scout Pack 188. Donald enjoyed spending time in his shop in the basement, bowling, wood working, and putting things together.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by siblings – Gladys, Robert, and James Arnott.

Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years – Marilyn Arnott of South Haven; children – Jean Grudzinkas of Wyoming, Michigan, Sue Misner of Belmont, Michigan, and Dave (Brenda) Arnott of Ocala, Florida; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the First Congregational Church, UCC, in South Haven. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeffrey S. Dick officiating at the church. Contributions may be made in Don’s memory to the We Care Food Pantry or to the Boy Scouts Pack 188.
