Beverly J. Clark, 81 of Benton Harbor departed this life May 11, 2019, at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph. Arrangements are pending.
“Her Wings Were Ready…Our Hearts Were Not”
The Queen of Hearts, Beverly Clark, received an offer she could not ignore and an appointment from which she would not return, she gained her wings and flew away. This assignment came with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with her parents, her son, her siblings, her family, and friends. This new mission now allows her to socialize, cook, crack jokes, play cards and watch over us eternally.
Beverly Janet Finley, affectionately known as “Grandma”, was born July 31, 1937, with her beloved twin Bonita in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of the late Nina and Joseph Finley. In 1949, Beverly moved to Benton Harbor with her family and was a resident for 70 years. After moving to Michigan, Beverly attended Benton Harbor Area Schools and graduated from Benton Harbor High School.
She confessed a hope in Christ at the age of 12 at the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Daniel E. Cook.
A loving mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and homemaker to many, Beverly, “The “Queen of Monroe and May” enjoyed preparing meals not only for family and friends but the entire neighborhood. She had a niche for helping people understand how to play the cards that they were dealt in life. Beverly loved to celebrate life and was sure to make every holiday about her. Even in heaven, she’ll continue to be the life of the party.
Beverly began her new journey on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at 2:10 pm at Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center as she transitioned to her heavenly home surrounded by close family. She left detailed instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her life on earth. She will truly be missed.
