Larry Watkins, 75, of Hartford, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville, Florida. Larry was born September 3, 1943 to Otto and Viola (Disbrow) Watkins in South Haven. He married Dora Westerfield on October 19, 1974 in Watervliet. They shared 45 years in marriage. Larry was a certified electrician who loved working on cars. He held several jobs including at Everett Piano, the Watervliet paper mill, and most recently at Johnson Controls before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed spending his time with family and attending his grandchildren’s various activities.
He is preceded in death along with his parents by siblings – Richard, Madelean, Kenneth, Donna, Edward, and Otto Jr.
Larry is survived by his wife – Dora Watkins of Hartford; children – Chad (Shannon) Watkins of Paw Paw, Lisa Corona of South Haven, Mary (Ray) England of Culver, Indiana, Larry Watkins of Watervliet, and Amy Naab of Bangor; siblings – Otto (Patty) Watkins of Bangor, Jack (Cindi) Watkins of Hartford, and Virginia Vandewiele of Hartford. Twenty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, May 6, 2019 and from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Pastor Larry Potts officiating at the funeral home. Larry will be laid to rest at Thomas Cemetery in Bangor Township.
