Thomas Edward O’Bryan of South Haven, Michigan passed away February 7th. Tom, a Michigan native, was born February 8, 1948 to Doris J. Fagan. Tom graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in South Haven in 1966. In 1970 he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in economics and political science. He was a Graduate Student at Western Michigan University from 1971 until he moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1972.
Tom was a member of the Michigan National Guard from 1970 to 1972, and the United States Army Reserve, 244th Engr. Bn., Boulder, Colorado from 1972 to 1976. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Military in 1976. Tom was a member of the American Legion.
As an entrepreneur he held many positions while living in Boulder, Colorado. In 1977, he founded and was president of Scorpio Enterprises, a spa business. For a number of years his Spa provided treatment for some of the U.S. Olympic Team competing in the “Bolder Boulder” Races. His inquisitive mind brought him to the legal profession where he became a paralegal specializing in bankruptcy proceedings. During this same time, he opened Comspec Trading house Corporation specializing in future contracts. Tom’s final company was the Thomas E. O’Bryan Real Estate firm opened in 1996. The business community held Tom in high regard.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Doris Fagan and Benjamin Fagan. His friends in Colorado and Michigan will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. A time for fellowship and light refreshments will follow funeral services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the First Church of God in South Haven, 567 Broadway St, South Haven, MI 49090, or to the First Congregational Church We Care Food Pantry, 651 Phoenix Street, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
