Gregory Jennings 59 of Benton Harbor, MI transitioned on February 20, 2019, at Lakeland Hospital in St Joseph, MI surrounded by family. Legacy farewell services will be held on March 2, 2019, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2360 Townline Road, Benton Harbor, MI 49022 with visitation starting at 11:00 am followed by services at 12:00 pm. Burial will take place on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Lincoln Twp Cemetery at 11:00 am.

Gregory Jennings of Benton Harbor Mi. affectedly known as Uncle Pete or Greg was the 5th child of ten born July 12th, 1959 in Chicago Illinois, to the late David & Lillie Jennings.

Gregory grew up in Chicago Ill where he attended Van Vistagen grade school and Fenger High School. While in Grade school at the age of thirteen Greg mate his true love the mother of five of his children Vernessa Traylor, Gregory was Baptist at an early age at the New Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago Illinois under the leadership of the Late Horace Nelson Mitchell.  Gregory and Vernessa together moved to Benton Harbor Michigan where he united with the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev Dr. Daniel E. Cook.

Gregory found his first job at Vail Rubber in St Joseph MI. working alongside his father as a machine operator, later joining his Sister Denise & Brother in- law Artie Fisher famous Fish Hut Restaurant business. Gregory was truly the glue that held his family together by keeping in touch with everyone.

After about 17 years of trying to keep their family together, Gregory and Vernessa decide to call it quits. Later to meet Miss Patricia Whitelow who also blessed him with a beautiful daughter Chrystal Maria Jennings. Determine to stay close to his family, on July 6, 2014, Gregory united with the St Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George Robinson. Gregory had a special love for Kids and cars; Gregory greatest Joy was his Canary yellow Cadillac which he would wash every day no matter what the weather was.

Gregory was better known to the kids as Uncle Pete would buy lots of candy so that when the kids would come around he could have something to give them.

Gregory was known for the man with 29 lives, as his health was starting to fail he traveled back and forward to the doctors in Indianapolis Ind. While in Indianapolis he found comfort in knowing that his brother Cornelius wife Sheryl, Nephew Henry and Wife Denise would always be there for him. Greg Love spending time with his Grandkids, Nieces, and Nephews.

During the last few months of Greg’s life, his Sister Denise and Brother in- Law Artie Fisher decide that they want Gregory to live with them so that he could enjoy his life and not spend his final days in a nursing home. While at the Fisher’s home Gregory found three little Soldiers that would help him with his daily Hygiene. Great nephew 11 years old Dekye would shave Gregory and cut his hair while his Grandson 3-year-old Ryder would help him with his personal needs. Great Niece 10-year-old Ireland would sit in his room for hours watching old movies with him just so that he could have someone to talk to about the movie.

Let’s not forget his three nieces that were always trying to do whatever they could for Gregory, riding partner great niece NaAngel Dancer, his cook Katerika Lee and his other doctor Ricqyua Williams.

Gregory shared a birthday with one of his great Nephew Tresvon Williams whom he never would forget to give him a gift, As Gregory would talk to everyone he meets he really enjoyed talking with his aunts, Jessie, Bulah, Pearl and his Sister Joyce.

Gregory leaves precious memories in the hearts of his Children, three Sons, Gregory L. Traylor, & Charles D. Jennings both of Benton Harbor Michigan, & William Jennings of Columbus Ohio. Three daughters, Zaqyua L. Traylor, Crystal M. Jennings, & Tekyrua Roberts, all of Benton Harbor Michigan.

Six Brothers Jeffery (Barbara) Jennings of Lansing Ill, Anthony Jennings of Niles Michigan, Cornelius (Sheryl) Jennings of Indianapolis Ind. Ricky ( Amy) Jennings  & David Jennings both of Benton Harbor Michigan. Four Sister Joyce M. Norfleet of Chicago Ill, Jan Jennings of Austin Texas and Denise (Artie) Fisher & Joanne (Rev George) Robinson of Benton Harbor Michigan.

Twelve Grandchildren, Treyl’ vion, Shaniah , &Riley Traylor, Billy Jr. Jaden, Zoey,  and Chase Boyd, Iyanna & Liyah Jennings, Nakiayah & Aaliyah Hines, and Ryder Porter.

One Uncle Rev Daniel (Cherrye) Gladney of Memphis Tenn. Three Aunts Mary Jessie Weatherly, Bulah Butler, & Ethel Pearl Rogers all of Chicago Ill. And one great Uncle Odell King of St Louis Mo.

His BFF & cousin: Michael (Tawanda) Green of Winn Ark, & Gary Massenbury of Springhill Florida.

God Mother: Lillie Wroten Massenburg of Springhill Florida

God Brother: Carl (Cynthia) Shannon of Benton Harbor Mi.

2 God Sisters: Dawn Rynearson & Margaret Fudge

Special Friends:  Tammy Jude, William Penn, Greg Hopkins, Kenneth (ponytail) Crowder Housekeeper Donna Davis, and Special Nurse Faith.
