Stabenow Disappointed By Senate Debate On Gun Control

Senator Debbie Stabenow was disappointed over the failure of four gun control measures in the Senate on Monday. The Democrat says each vote was marred by special interests.

“One of the most powerful lobbies in Washington, the NRA,” Stabenow said. “They are funded very much by the gun manufacturers. I understand they don’t want to lose sales.”

Stabenow voted with Democrats on bills to expand background checks and keep people on the terrorist watch list from buying guns. She voted against a Republican background check bill and NRA-endorsed legislation that would have kept suspected terrorists from buying a gun for 72 hours.
