[VIDEO] Benton Harbor Building Collapses

0531

The owner of a downtown Benton Harbor building will have to rebuild after about half of the structure collapsed Tuesday afternoon. The building, located at 221 Main Street, right across from the Comcast building, was vacant and no one was hurt. The front half of it suddenly collapsed around 2 p.m., spilling bricks as far as the middle of Main Street. Benton Harbor Public Safety and the department of public works responded to the scene and blocked it off. Victor Garcia, an employee of the building’s Chicago-based owner, says there were plans to turn the building into a bar or restaurant. It was once a Ridge & Kramer location.
