For ten years, the Ironman Steelhead 70.3 Triathlon has attracted triathlon families to Southwest Michigan. The event started with a one-point-two mile swim, then moved on to a bike course rolling through the wine country and orchards, followed up by a run. The event is a regional Ironman TriClub Championship race. Thousands of athletes and spectators from all over the country gathered at Jean Klock Park Sunday morning to kick off the race. The men’s overall winner was Daniel Stubleski, who finished nearly 10 minutes ahead of the next-closest competitor with a time of 3 hours, 58 minutes and 51 seconds. The top woman was Maria Luz Poblete of Chile, who won with a time of four hours, 38 minutes and 21 seconds. The fastes local competitor was Michel Girard of St. Joseph. He finished second overall at four hours, 8 minutes and 3 seconds.
