Douglas Wolthuis of Lawton is charged with robbing a bank Tuesday in the Fort Custer Industrial Park in Battle Creek. He walked into the Chase Bank in a hazmat suit and said he had anthrax. Battle Creek Police Sergeant Jim Martens says it was something very far out of the ordinary.

Lab tests have determined the powder the man had in his truck was not anthrax. Wolthuis was arraigned Wednesday and could also be facing federal charges for the crime.
