Office manager sentenced for embezzlement

Kathy McFadden of Hartford was ordered to pay back the 19,785 she embezzled and will serve 30 days in jail in addition to three years probation. McFadden was the former office manger for the Dowagiac Fire and Ambulance service and embezzled money from the financially troubled department by using a debit card to make withdrawals from Fifth Third Bank. McFadden appeared in Michael Dodge's Cass County Circuit court where he sentenced her for stealing, possessing and illegally using a debit card. The Dowagiac Fire Department has since ceased its operation as of March this year.
