The Kalamazoo County sheriff's office says an experienced helicopter pilot was killed Friday when the aircraft crashed a day after he bought it. Sheriff's Capt. Bill Timmerman says the crash happened in a wooded area of Comstock Township just east of Kalamazoo. The pilot was a 68-year-old man who lived in the township. He was alone in the helicopter when it went down around noon.      Timmerman says the victim's name is being withheld pending family notification. A witness told deputies that he heard the helicopter's engine quit and then heard the craft crash in the woods. Timmerman says the witness located the crash site and called 911. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
