The county treasurer says that a new scam making the rounds recently is playing on the fear of foreclosure. Brett Witkowski says several people have received letters, warning that they were about to lose their home to tax foreclosure.

Witkowski says it's either a scam or someone trying to scare people into selling their property. And although the current crisis refers to bank foreclosure, he says just the word creates a lot of concern.

Witkowski says that unless property owners have received a letter from the treasurer's office, they shouldn't be worried about their property being sold at auction.
