With about a month until Memorial Day, there are bugs still being worked out of Berrien County's new emergency "call boxes" on local beaches. County commissioner Jeanette Leahey says the problem appears to be mechanical.

The three non-working emergency boxes are at Silver Beach near the North Pier and Tiscornia Park. The "call boxes" put in by the city of St. Joseph near the South Pier are in working order.
