David Glenn Oke, age 71, left his earthly pain to be present with the Lord on September 21, 2024 in Wyoming, MI. Born on February 28, 1953, David deeply cherished his role as a loving husband, father, and Pop-Pop. His first love was his family, but his second love was Diet Pepsi. One could be found in his hand while reading about civil war history or watching Star Trek. His other passions included working with his hands from woodworking to cross-stitch, Lego kits to puzzles. He enjoyed camping, antiquing, grilling BBQ chicken, making chili and cooking breakfast with Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids.
Dave is survived by his wife of 40 years, Michelle Oke; daughters Amanda Callaghan, Kristin (Michael) Winfrey, and Caitlin (Jackson) Oke; grandkids Davey, Aria, and Benji Callaghan, and Brendan and Caleb Winfrey; brothers Steve (Bonnie) Oke, and Tom (Shari) Oke, and brothers-in-law Mike (Johann) Northrop, and Arvid Northrop, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Margaret Oke, and mother-in-law Arvis Northrop.
A service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene, with a visitation held at 3:00 PM.
David’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, his love of the Lord, and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
