Richard Ernest Brett, 63, known affectionately as Rick to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, in Niles, Michigan. Born on April 16, 1961, in Three Rivers, Michigan, Rick’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering kindness and a deep love for his family, music, and his home state’s football team.

Rick spent many years contributing his skills to the Ameriwood factory, where he was not just a dedicated worker but also a friend to many.

A true Michigan football enthusiast, Rick’s passion for the game was infectious. He cherished the moments spent cheering on his team, reveling in the camaraderie and spirit that came with each game. Rick’s interests were not limited to sports; he was an avid record collector with a particular fondness for rock & roll music. Bands like KISS and Journey were among his favorites, and their music was the soundtrack to many memorable moments in his life.

Above all, Rick’s love for his family shone brightest. He was a kind and caring father, deeply devoted to his children, Andrea (Darren) McDaniel and Timothy Brett. Andrea, his ‘little firecracker,’ was his ‘guardian angel,’ a testament to the special bond they shared. His siblings, Susan (Bob) Phillips, Dawn Cox, and Linda Brett, will remember him as a loving brother who always had a listening ear and a comforting hug. The memories they created together will continue to be cherished by those who knew them. Rick’s legacy will also live on through his three adoring grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter to his life.

Rick’s kind spirit and caring demeanor were the hallmarks of his character. He was a patriotic man who took pride in his country and what it stood for. His presence was a source of stability and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Per Rick’s wishes, there will be no services at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.

As we bid farewell to Rick, we celebrate a life lived with genuine kindness and a heart full of love. His memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the beauty of a life well-lived and the enduring power of a kind soul. Rest in peace, Rick; your legacy of kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of those you’ve touched.
