Loretta Mae Karnik, 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Loretta was born on February 17, 1930 in St. Joseph, Michigan to the late L. Benjamin Reber and Tena (Fritz) Reber.

Along with her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her son, Arnault “Arnie” H. Karnik Jr. and her four siblings, Lewis (Elaine) Reber, Kenneth (Rosalie) Reber, Mineva (Zach) McPherson and Calvin (Ruby) Reber.

Left to cherish the memory of Loretta is her loving husband of 70 years, Arnault “Arnie” H. Karnik Sr; children, Kevin (Susan) Karnik, Melissa “Missy” (Dick Pask) Bouse, Marc (Jo Lovette) Karnik, and Christopher (Tammy) Karnik; 10 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

A voracious reader, Loretta found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Her artistic spirit was evident in her love for decorating, crafting, and the intricate beauty of crocheting and needlework. Loretta’s keen eye for detail and her imaginative touch brought warmth and charm into her home and the lives of her loved ones.

Loretta enjoyed bowling and golfing as well as spending time in her flower garden. Her strength of character was matched only by her devotion as a dedicated wife, homemaker and mother, roles that she cherished wholeheartedly. In addition to these talents, Loretta was an incredibly good cook.

She married Arnie Karnik on August 7, 1954 in Crown Point IN. Their 70-year marriage was based on mutual respect, support, and an abundance of affection. Loretta will be deeply missed, yet her indomitable spirit and the legacy of love she leaves behind will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to know her.

In keeping with Loretta’s wishes, there will be no services held.
