Jack Dean Turner, 88, of Coloma, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Cremation has taken place. A Family Celebration of Jack’s life with Military Honors will be held at a later date.  Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Disable American Veterans at DAV.org or to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan.

Jack was born October 16, 1935 in Coloma to Burrell Frederick and Nancy Marie (Stanley) Turner.  He graduated in 1953 from Watervliet High School.  In 1955 Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged December 18, 1958.  During that time he met and married the love of his life, Harriett Louise Sweeney on July 3, 1958.  After taking on many different jobs, Jack truly became the “Jack of all trades”, eventually retiring in 2014 as joint owner of Turner’s Machine Shop after 42 years of service.  In his free time jack loved family cookouts and woodworking, was and avid fisherman and hunter, and taught many children to swim in the backyard pool.  He also loved the Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions and was a former member and past president of the Watervliet Rod and Gun Club and the Coloma Lions.

Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Harriett, children; Dawn (Walt) Regan of Benton Harbor, Dusky Turner of Chicago, Leigh Ann (Bryan) Tutton of Coloma, and a brother Daniel Turner of Mobile, Alabama.  Also surviving are three grandchildren; Brieanna Bare, Brandon (Samantha) Bare, Brett (Marissa Sailor) Tutton; five great grandchildren; T.J. Erskin, Mya Bare, Ethan Bare, Katherine Priest, Jackson Bare, a special friend Gayle Kelley, faithful dog Marlin, and many other relatives and special friends.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death two brothers Paul “Bud” and Joe Turner, and two sisters, Janet Wigent, and Barbara Reck.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home, Coloma.
