Mary Josephine Jones, 84, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, in South Bend, Indiana.
Mary was born on June 6, 1940 in Niles, Michigan to the late Marvin Otto Bowers and Flossie Ellen Bowers.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Jones; children, Timmy Jones, Jerry Jones, and Tammy Lester, and siblings.
Left to cherish the memory of Mary are her children, Cindy Davis, Terry (Olga) Jones, Arthur Jones, Rick Jones, and Melanie (Jim) Currie; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Mary was renowned for her unwavering dedication as a wife, mother, and grandmother, always placing her family at the heart of her world.
Her passions were as bountiful as her love; Mary found serenity in tending to her garden, which bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit, and she had an enduring fondness for the delicate dance of hummingbirds. Her lake cottage was a treasured haven where she indulged in the simplicity of fishing and the tranquility of nature.
Mary’s zest for life was infectious. She relished traveling to new places, the excitement of discovering treasures at garage sales, and the sheer contentment of being in the presence of her children and grandchildren. Her pets, too, were showered with her love and care.
To have known Mary was to know a life embraced fully—a tapestry of love, adventure, and natural beauty. Her memory will flourish in the lives she touched, much like the flowers in her garden and the harmonious songs of her cherished hummingbirds.
Visitation for Mary will be on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00am at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, 61453 M-51, Niles, MI 49120. Burial will immediately follow at Mission Hills.
