His life began January 5, 1943 in South, Bend Indiana one of five children born to Steve and Lydia Vargo.
He married Shirley Landis in Niles, Michigan.
Ronald served his country honorably in the United States Army where he learned to be an X-Ray technician. He met his wife Shirley at Pawating Hospital in Niles where they both worked as X-ray technicians. Ronald was an avid outdoorsman and beloved father, brother, son and friend who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising bird dogs throughout his life. He will be remembered for his deep love of nature and outdoor adventures. Ronald leaves behind a legacy of humorous storytelling, quick wit, and passion for the outdoors.
Ronald will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Shirley Vargo of Niles;one daughter, Heather Vargo of Edwardsburg, Michigan; three sons, Brent (Paula) Vargo of Oro Valley, Arizona, Jeffrey (Angie) Vargo of Lakeville, Indiana, Tony (Maryann) Vargo of South Bend, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Cade, Hunter, Tye, Lydia, Will, Nora, Nathan, Luca, Eliana, Haleia , Leilena; one sister, Lydia (John) Kolacz; two brothers, Fred (Cookie) Vargo, Jim Vargo; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ned Vargo.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday July 9, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, 615 East Main Street, Niles.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Summit Church 1700 West River Road, Niles, with calling beginning one hour prior at 10:00 a.m.
Ronald will be laid to rest in Mission Hills cemetery, Niles, Michigan.
