Two Southwest Michigan men are facing charges in a Kalamazoo County murder.

Michigan State Police say the investigation began in December of 2022 when the body of 33-year-old Lashaun Keith was found in a field in Van Buren County’s Geneva Township. Detectives determined Keith had been assaulted and killed in Kalamazoo County and that his body was taken into Van Buren County.

Through their investigation, state police identified the two suspects, 29-year-old Bryan Christopher Wimbley of Hartford, and 22-year-old Zachary Stephen Trainor of Watervliet.

After a review by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor, Wimberly was arrested on June 18 and Trainor was arrested on June 22. They’re charged with open murder and removal of a body without medical examiner permission. Both men have both been arraigned in the 8th District Court of Kalamazoo and remain in the Kalamazoo County Jail.

Michigan State Police say they extend heartfelt sympathies to the family of Lashaun Keith.
