In celebration of Carwana Davis’ life, we remember the day she was born in St. Joseph, Michigan on June 26, 1972, to the union of David, Jr. and Beatrice Davis. She was the youngest of three children, raised in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was baptized at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where her family worshiped and  praised for years.

Carwana graduated from Michigan Lutheran High School in St. Joseph, Michigan. Her high school years were filled with activities, which included the school choir and band.  She played the clarinet and traveled to various states for musical events. After high school, Carwana attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan where she earned her degree in Applied Science in Dental Technology.

Her career in Dental Technology began in the Detroit Metro area, where she was employed by Shulman & Kaufman Dental Lab (Southfield, MI) as well as several other labs prior to her relocation to Silver Springs, Maryland. From there, she landed a position at Van Hook Dental Studio in Arizona, which became her home for the past twelve years.

Given her love for working with her hands, a career as a dental technologist was a rewarding choice for her. Her gifted hands allowed her to handle small tools and delicate materials with precision. Her manual dexterity, technical skills, creativity and attention to detail directly contributed to improving people’s oral health, which is a vital part of a dental healthcare team. Her passion for her work not only defined her professional life, but also showcased her commitment to excellence.

As we come together to remember and celebrate the life of Carwana Davis, let us reflect on the impact and the lasting impression she left on the hearts of many. Her loyalty, honesty, and genuine care always made her friends feel valued and loved. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with close friends and family. If you were fortunate to cross paths with her, you would remember her sense of fashion as well as her unique hairstyles. Carwana’s love for staying fit was always a priority for her. You could find her in a gym, on a run or simply taking a brisk walk. She also had a great love and affection for her dogs, Winnie (deceased) and Prince.

Carwana’s resilience as a burn survivor adds an inspiring dimension to her journey. Her parents’ constant presence, emotional strength, and motivation played a crucial role through the multiple surgeries she endured throughout this challenging time. Her mother temporarily moved to Arizona to be by Carwana’s side during her lengthy recovery. Her sister, Celisa and brother-in-law, Ron would also stay for weeks at a time to support her as well as her brother, Lamar and her late aunt, Kaye Reed and a host of other family members and friends. This strong network and foundation of love and support contributed to Carwana emerging stronger during this time in her life.  Carwana’s strong work ethic, kindness and resilience has left a legacy of the amazing human being she was. Her unwavering determination and gentle spirit will forever be remembered. Now she is resting peacefully in the comforting embrace of God. Today, we celebrate Ms. Carwana Davis.
