Michigan Works job fair next month

employment-agreement

Michigan Works of Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren is hosting job fair on July 11.

Job seekers can attend the event in which employers will meet with candidates to fill open positions. The job fair will host employers in various industries, and will also host resource providers to help job seekers with education, training, and support services.

Mary Morphey with Kinexus told us why the job fair helps the community as well.

Our employers are doing well, our communities are more vibrant, and so this event really is to support the individual job seeker and help them find what it is that they’re looking for, but it’s also ultimately to support the employer and get them fully staffed for the summer,” Morphey said.

About 25 employers will be at the event on Thursday, July 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Michigan Works Service Center in Benton Harbor.

Last month’s hiring event saw 24 employers and 342 job seekers which resulted in many on-spot interviews and filled positions.

Our job fairs are not just focused on employment, they’re also focused on getting people the the resources they need to find the ideal job for them.”

MI Works is also helping prepare job seekers for the job fair, helping them get proper clothing, resumes or interview prep at the MI Works center.

Employers will need to register for the event for no cost by visiting the miworks.org website, or contacting Paul Panicucci at PanicucciP@miworks.org. Capacity is limited.
