Nesbitt supporting plan to spur MI economy

Michigan Senate Republican Leader Aric Nesbitt on Wednesday announced a new package of bills to roll back red tape and boost economic growth in the state.

Nesbitt tells us the Grow MI State package seeks to counter some of the things done by Democrats since they gained control in Michigan.

There’s a little over a dozen bills, things such as instead of sending more money to wealthy corporations, our plan will fix the bridges Michiganders drive to work and school every day on,” Nesbitt said. “We’ll also take the lead among our states by initiating a compact that will disarm all this race to the bottom on providing all this corporate welfare. We won’t stop fighting until we actually get an income tax cut.”

Among other things, the package includes bills to reimplement a Right to Work law and attract more doctors, nurses, and teachers.

Our plan invests more in apprenticeship scholarships to expand our workforce in Michigan of folks that actually use their hands to work. We want to ensure state regulations aren’t any stricter than those imposed by the federal government unless the state legislature actually votes on it.”

Nesbitt says the package also streamlines the licensing process for professionals licensed in other states who move to Michigan. That would apply to professions like the skilled trades.

Nesbitt tells us with Democrats still in control, some of the bills may be harder to pass than others.
