(Betty) Gene Ashburn, 94, of Royalton Township and formerly of Coloma died Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

Gene was born on July 26, 1929, in Lueders, TX to Bert and Lola Stapp. She married her husband, George Ashburn, Sr. in 1949 and celebrated 43 years of marriage. George preceded her in death in 1992. He was a veteran of the US Navy for 22 years and Gene enjoyed following him around. Gene graduated from high school and was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and following the Dallas Cowboys Football Team. Gene was an outgoing and spontaneous individual.
Her family includes her children; Gloria (Mickey) Crawford of Coloma and Billy Ashburn, Jr. of South Haven; her four grandchildren and her 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kandy, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
