Alma Lee Hatcher Miller was born February 17, 1925 to Men and Nora Crow Hatcher in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was granted her angel wings on April 8, 2024 at the blessed age of 99 years old. Alma had a long and fruitful life. She moved from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Niles, Michigan in 1942, following her father Men Hatcher and brother Harold Hatcher.

Her father purchased several large acres of land located in Howard Township. This land that the family lived on became known as Hatcherville due to Men Hatcher and his sons and daughters living there. Alma was loving, gentle, kind, and a sweet spirited person. She could also be known as a little bossy and sassy at times. She greeted each person with a smile, and a kind uplifted word . She possessed inner strength and beauty. Her smile, kindness, and love melted the hearts of those whom she encountered.

She touched the lives of so many throughout her long life, sharing, teaching, encouragingly uplifting, and witnessing about Jesus. She was never a stranger to any person and offered hospitality in her home on many occasions.

She loved talking about family history and often told stories about the South; the struggles, challenges, hardships, and triumphs. She always encouraged family members to get to know one another near and far , and to remember our roots and be proud of who we were as people and family.

She promoted love and unity, forgiveness, and pride. As a young lady, she learned the principles of hard work integrity, professionalism, and dedication. Her jobs included picking cotton, laundry girl. house maid , dietary aide and worked her way up to dietary supervisor at Pawating Hospital, Niles Michigan. She was a nanny / housekeeper for family of five children, and two adults, the Plym/ Campbell family.

She was very dedicated and loved caring for the children . She .accompanied them on vacations all over especially, to their private island in the Bahamas.

Alma raised six of her own children, 5 as a Nanny. She was also a foster mother, home health aide, foster grandmother in the Niles school system, along with babysitting and helping raise her own grandchildren .She took cake decorating classes and excelled into her own little business .Alma loved community and social justice projects. and was a member of the Mother’s Vogettee Social club and also the NAACP. Alma was a member of the Franklin AME Church for some time. She served as an usher, hospitality, and a Deaconess’s . Throughout the years she was also a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church and served as the President of the Usher board, Hospitality and many other committees. She loved supporting all church programs, loved Gospel music and good preaching.

Alma earn several church trophies from Mount Calvary for anniversaries and Pew Rallies. She was very proud of them and showed them off to Family and friends with pride.

Alma also attended Faith apostolic Church in South Bend, Indiana. She dearly loved her Pastor, Eddie Miller, and First Lady Diane Miller.

She served on the mother’s board and always supported the church and whatever way she could spiritually and financially. In her later years she returned back to her roots and home church, Mount Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in Hatcherville She serve faithfully there also on the Mothers Board. She loved her church & all the family and friends there. She was very fond of her Pastor, Fletcher McAfee And First Lady Thomasine McAfee.

She was known as Aunt Alma to everyone and later as Mother Miller. She served at Mount Olive until Health issues causes her decline.

Alma was very Proud of own Nephew Reverend Tracey Hatcher of the Peace Temple Church of God Dowagiac, Michigan. She loved hearing him preach the Anointed word of God.

The Niles Senior Center was a big part of Alma’s life. She enjoyed all the treat they had for seniors the, fellowship, luncheons shopping trips , holiday parties and much more. She met a special friend there, Brenda Hammond and her husband better known as Santa Claus. Alma worked hard and helped organize and promote the first Hatcher family reunion and was very persistent about continuing the reunions every year.

She loved gardening and had a beautiful front and backyard loaded with beautiful plants. She shared flower seeds with all the neighbors and friends all over town.. **Everyone today was given a pack of flower seeds today in her memory .Please plant them and watch them bloom . It’s Gods way of sharing her love and memories with you.

Alma is survived by her daughter, Linda Moseray and Son Danny Quinn, Daughter, Millajean Bradley, Daughter Joan Lawona Miller, Grandchildren, Ronnie Leroy Quinn, Kathy, James Quinn, Collins, Sherrie Graham , Daniel, Zondra Quinn, Ranee Brandon Quinn, McGowan, Erica Pittman. Dowand Lottie Lonnie Miller SR., Myles Miller, Darrell Palmer, Dwight Palmer, Jacob Miller,Buday, Jacquelyn Quinn, Justin Quinn, Jason Quinn, 35 beautiful loved great grandchildren, 22 Awesome great great grandchildren Oldest Nephew Arton Briggs, Oldest Niece Marlene Wade, and host of dedicated and blessed Nieces and Nephews and Cousins Goddaughter Robin Dockery. Special friends; Angela Siekman., Amy Boone.. and Many more that she loved.
