Indiana Michigan Power took Thursday as a chance to salute its lineworkers as part of National Lineworker Appreciation Day.

I&M spokesperson Kara Stevenson tells us lineworkers are available 24/7 to respond to power outages in all kinds of conditions.

We see it through all seasons where we’re located with the toughest of winters and the hottest of summers,” Stevenson said. “They’re there to truly battle through it all.”

Stevenson says lineworkers don’t just serve their immediate communities, either. Via mutual aid agreements, I&M lineworkers have helped restore power all over the country when disaster strikes.

Leading up to Thursday, the public was invited to submit words of thanks to I&M lineworkers.

Mary from Niles wrote in, ‘You are appreciated for showing strength, courage, and caring as you maintain electrical power to families and businesses throughout Michigan.’ So, that’s kind of the gist of the messages that we’ve seen.”

I&M has about 500 lineworkers, either direct employees or contracted workers.

Customers are encouraged to leave a positive comment on an I&M social media post for the day.
