It’s time to start picking up Easter candy. As it turns out, Americans quite a lot on it each year. University of Detroit-Mercy marketing Professor Mike Bernacchi spoke with Michigan News Network.
“$2.6 billion this Easter time,” Bernacchi said. “It’s a growth year over year of almost 7%. Virtually everybody that celebrates Easter buys Easter candy. It’s over 90%.”
Bernacchi says that’s about $10 per person with chocolate bunnies and jelly beans being the most popular. Just about five items in a basket add up to about 1,000 calories.
