That’s Representative Lisa Posthumus Lyons of suburban Grand Rapids, who is sponsoring the measure. The legislation had a hearing in a committee she chairs months ago, but has been stalled since. Under the bill, people could vote absentee without giving a reason by visiting their local clerk’s office, showing their ID and filling out an application.
